Joining the International Climate Conversation at New York Climate Week & Houston Climate Week 2025

Over the past month, Blue Action has been privileged to join two of the world’s most dynamic climate gatherings — Houston Energy & Climate Week and New York Climate Week 2025. These global platforms brought together policymakers, innovators, investors, and NGOs to explore solutions for the energy transition and ocean sustainability.

From Houston: Innovation Through Collaboration

In Houston, the focus was clear: accelerating climate innovation through partnerships with the energy sector. We gained valuable insights into how cross-industry collaboration — between energy, technology, and finance — can scale ocean-positive solutions and align climate goals with commercial realities.

From New York: Global Leadership on Ocean & Climate

In New York, conversations shifted toward global visibility and climate leadership. Key themes included maritime decarbonisation, blue economy innovation, climate finance, and equity for coastal communities.

Blue Action Accelerator joint venture partner Founders Factory hosted their inaugural Industrial Transformation Summit in partnership with Blue Action, Rio Tinto, and HSBC — connecting industry leaders with entrepreneurs building the solutions the world needs.

The maritime sector is at a crossroads. With the IMO’s Net Zero Framework approaching and new fuel-use standards on the horizon, the pressure to decarbonise has never been greater. That urgency shaped the Maritime Decarbonisation Challenge, co-hosted by Founders Factory, J.P. Morgan, alfa8, and Blue Action. This closed roundtable brought together shipowners, charterers, regulators, financiers, and technology providers to tackle the critical question: who builds, who pays, and who waits?

Key Takeaways

  • Partnership is critical — innovation accelerates when sectors unite.

  • Finance must lead — unlocking capital is essential to scale ocean solutions.

  • Equity drives resilience — Indigenous voices, youth leaders, and local communities must be central to climate action.

Blue Action returns from Houston and New York more committed than ever to turning insights into action, shaping the Blue Economy, and delivering ocean and coastal solutions at scale.
